Posting / Board Guidelines
These are in addition to our Terms of Service/User Agreement Policy. Tradespot is here for you to buy sell and trade your UO items. The Staff here Moderates daily and will PM those who violate any of these rules. If you receive a PM and are unsure what you have done, please reply to the Moderator and ask nicely. If you cuss at or ignore any of the staff here when they ask you not to do something, expect to be banned. Any issue not covered in the following guidelines will be handled at the Moderators discretion. In the end the Moderators here have the final decision on issues that arise. For those of you who haven't read the Terms of Service lately, I suggest that you do. As you should know, by posting on any Tradespot Board, you implicitly agree to be bound by our rules.
Anyway, Here are the Board Guidelines. If you reply to your own post expect it to be deleted without warning. Please read these Guidelines carefully as they benefit everyone : )
Posting Items(s) for Cash:
Only Tradespot Brokers may post ANY item for Cash on Tradespot. Registered Users can post Buying or Selling items for gold or trade only.
Posting Code(s) or Promo Token(s):
Registered users can post Tokens only, NOT Codes, for Gold ONLY.
Prohibited Items:
Never post any Illegal or Exploited Item. A list of Illegal Items per EA is HERE and the definition of an exploit directly from EA is HERE. If you post such an item your account could be banned without warning. The following statement taken from www.uo.com explains more of what an exploited item is: An exploit is the ability to do anything in the game which you should not normally be able to do. For instance, if you aren't able to walk into a house with your character, but you discover a way for an animal to break in for you, you are obviously taking advantage of an exploit. It is obvious that thieving animals are not part of the game. If you find a loop hole which allows you to duplicate items or create more gold, this is also considered an exploit. Are you able to kill someone in a town who is not in a warring guild? This is an exploit as well. In each instance, the rules have obviously been broken and unusual gains have been made. Knowing what is an exploit is really a matter of knowing how the game works. Ignorance that you were using an exploit will not prevent removal from the game for committing such an exploit. If it was not intented, it is an exploit and not allowed here on Tradespot, PERIOD. Some items not allowed are Black Horses, True White or Gold Cloth or items made from it, The Black Halbred, The Blue Shroud of Shadows or any other item similar that was not intended. We reserve the right to prohibit any item at our discretion.
Replying to ANY post:
Do not reply to any post for any reason other than to warn others of a poster who has just scammed you. When replying to the scammers post, you must include the full story of what happened with proof. Please post any ICQ logs or other related information. You may NOT post anyones phone number or address for ANY reason unless you have gotten prior permission from Lynn or Africanus. Most likely the persons info you would be posting would be the victim of a hacker and not actually the one who scammed you. You also need to Email this same information to Lynn at Lynn@Tradespot.net.
Replying to Post with Bids:
If you wish to take gold bids on your item, please use the Auction feature built into Tradespot. If you do not wish to use that feature please include high bids in the post rather than replying with them. If you want to update the bid, simply delete the previous post by viewing your post and clicking the trashcan, than repost with the current information. This only benefits you by keeping your post closer to the top of the board and others by not having threads that only move their posts down too fast so please just simply do NOT reply.
Replying to Update your Post:
Do not reply to your own post to update it for any reason. If you have obtained or sold the item you posted please view your post and click "End" to mark the post "Bought" or "Sold". For multiple item posts which some items have been bought or sold, please delete the original post by viewing your post and clicking the trashcan, than repost with the updated items. If you made a mistake in your original post, please delete the original post and repost.
Replying with Questions or Comments:
If you have a question or a comment about an item or what ever, please do NOT reply to the post. Simply use the Private Message feature by clicking the PM at the bottom right and discuss it privately.
Replying with Non-Constructive Feedback / Insults:
Replying to an ad with "LOL, this costs too much!" or "ROFL, I bought mine for xxx gold, newbie!" is not constructive and will not be tolerated. If an item is priced outrageously, then it probably won't be bought, and you don't need to comment about it. If you want to politely advise the seller through a private message that he might be asking too much, that's fine. Posting your opinions are not.
Account Sharing:
Account sharing is NOT allowed. Do not give your account information to anyone or post items for anyone other than yourself. Sharing your account with or posting for someone banned will likely result in you being immediately banned. If someone else in your household that plays UO wishes to post on Tradespot they simply need to create their own account here and use their own ICQ on this account.
Posting ICQ in Subject or Text / Multiple ICQ's:
Please do not post your ICQ number in the subject or text of the post. Only registered users on Tradespot can see ICQ numbers, so it's not necessary to put your ICQ number in the Subject or Text of any post. There are a few reasons for this. Only authorized users on Tradespot are able to see the ICQ number field. By putting your ICQ in Subject or Text you enable scammers and/or un-authorized users to contact you. The other concern with putting ICQ numbers in Subject or Text is Account Sharing or someone posting for someone who was banned for scamming. We do NOT allow account sharing or posting for another person. If you do either for someone banned you will likely be banned yourself.
Repost Frequency:
If you plan on reposting an item, then limit yourself to posting that specific item once per day per 100 thread page. If you have a large amount of items to sell, it is okay to post multiple posts. Please combine like items so that you are not posting too many posts in a row or short period of time. Posting the same item(s) more than once per day per 100 thread page can be considered spamming.
Crossposting:
Crossposting (reposting the same ad or post on several boards) is unacceptable, unless the item for sale involves an item you have in your possession on each shard. In such a case, posting on each relevent shard is perfectly alright. One example, if I have a tower on Catskills that I'd like to sell for gold on Atlantic, then I can post my ad on the Atlantic and Catskills Trade Boards as well as the X-Shard Board. Another example, if I have Barbed Runic Kits on 6 different shards, than posting them for sale on each of those Trade Boards would be okay. A common example of what would not be acceptable would be posting an account for sale with established characters only on Chesapeake to all the trade boards.
Information on Bugs & Exploiting:
Do NOT post any message asking how to dupe or how to reproduce a bug, etc. Don't ask how to exploit, don't tell how to exploit. Don't post a single word about exploiting, duping or anything of the sort. There will ZERO tolerance for these types of posts. If you see such a post please notify a Staff Member asap.
Posting Links to Other Sites:
Please do not post links to any sites, unless pre-approved by a Tradespot Administrator. If you have a questions feel free to Email one of the Staff. There are Banners and Buttons for this type of Advertising. If you would like to place an Advertisement contact Lynn at ICQ # 286140816 or Lynn@Tradespot.net.
Price Checks or Questions on Items:
Posting these type of questions are okay. In your post you should request that answers be given through Private Message (PM) or any other form besides replying. Obviously if you are answering such question do NOT reply with that answer, send a PM instead.
Miscellaneous:
Do not post anything at all about shards that are not EA supported shards, PERIOD. We do not allow any posting for non EA Shards and there will be no tolerance for this type of post either.
If you post an item for sale for a specific price, expect to sell for that price. If you have received a higher offer for that item, please delete and repost your item accordingly. If you are taking bids on an item, than list the high bid and/or buyout.
Again, the Staff here at Tradespot has the final word on any situation that would arise, so please don't sit and argue about it. If you disrespect, cuss at or continually argue with any staff member of Tradespot, expect to have your accounts removed.
Posting any Non-Trade related post:
Any posts not related to Buying, Selling or Trading of UO Items need to be posted on the General Discussion Forum only. This forum is for non-Trade related UO questions. Please do not post about other games or events not related to UO. Again, no posting of any item from any non EA shard.
Scamming or "Hacking" Accusations:
If you've been scammed or "hacked", then it's perfectly ok to post your story on the Trade Board(s) the scammer uses, as well as the Scammer Alerts. You must include the complete version of the story of how the person scammed you along with all relevant proof like ICQ logs, Paypal Email, Etc. NEVER post anyones Address or Phone Number. Also be sure to send complete information including the Address and Phone Info to Lynn at Lynn@Tradespot.net. Scam reports without this information will most likely be deleted.
"Courtesy" Flagging:
Please use the correct "Type of Post" (Guild-Event / Buy / Sell / Trade). It makes your post easy to recognize by what type it is.
Violations of these rules will result with a friendly warning and deletion of your post. Repeated violations of the rules will eventually result in you and your account being banned from Tradespot, either temporarily, or permanently. Furthermore, some of the more serious violations can result in being banned without warning, and without a second chance (such as scamming). We're not unreasonable people, but we simply ask that you follow the rules meant to ensure that everyone continues to have a pleasant trade environment.
